I am a Brazilian percussionist active since 1999.
I studied in Escola Villa Lobos(1999-2003) and Escola Portatil de Musica (2004 -2008) in Rio de janeiro — Brazil. Recently, last december and janury i went to Guiné Conakry, Africa to develop my skills in African Rithams.
As a teacher I have been developing Pandeiro workshops in main European city like Paris,, Berlin, London, Barcelona and others. In Liverpool, I am teaching currently and also doing body percussion workshop at schools activities.Last December I made a Pandeiro Workshop in the Festival Vai Baião in Lisbon, Portugal.
Since 2010, I have been teaching in Brazil in schools and making music activity for babies and toddlers until I moved to Liverpool in 2016.
As a professional I have been playing with several Brazilian music bands in Rio de Janeiro, exploring traditional rhythms such as samba, choro, maracatu, frevo, baião, coco, ciranda, bumba-meu-boi. funk, etc
Between 2000 and 2002 I had been played in a female band called Dona Santa. I take part in of one of the most famous Carnival Blocks in Rio de Janeiro, Bloco Céu na Terra since 2000.
I have been playing in a choro group, Choro de Santa, duiring 14 years.
Currently I am living in Liverpool, developing new music projects involving the fusions of Brazilian rhythms with African rhythms, funk and world music. In August 2016 I performed as part of Joyce Candido's band in an event in celebration of Team GB's participation in the Rio Olympics 2016 at Aqua Kyoto Rooftop London; in September I performed a rich Choros repertoire with Brazilian musicians Clea Tomasset and Victor Celestino in the Festival Ashden's party in the Hyde Park, London.
At the moment, I am taking part in the 'Stealing Sheep's Suffragette Tribute' — the suffrage-inspired performance being taken to four UK festivals this year.
In July and august I will be playing with a CHORO Trio in different venues in Liverpool and London.
In addition, «Choro» I developed as somewhat of my specialty: from taking part in the recording of the CD «Casarão do Choro» by the Record company Acari Records, to being invited to take part in the «Concertos Didaticos» in the Villa-Lobos Museum, monthly shows in the «choro na praça» at SESC Nova Friburgo.
In 2015 I created, alongside classic guitarris Fábio Nin and trombonist Sérgio Castanheira the Trio Pizindim, mixing Brazilian rhtyhms with influences from other Latin music styles as well as Marrabenta (Mozambique).
In 2011, I started developing projects gerared towards children, performing at Brazilian Public Schools as well as performing the show «Pixinguinha para Crianças: Historias e Sons do Menino Bom», in the Instituto Moreira Sales & Teatro Municipal de Marionetes Carlos Werneck as well as the comunity Libraries like Rocinha (one of the largest «Favelas» of Rio). This project is still in activity and last August we played in SESC Winter festivals in Rio Der Janeiro and in Chorinho e Sanfona festival in Rosal- Brazil.
